The Prayer Course II

Following The Prayer Course in January and February 2021 we are launching The Prayer Course II - unanswered prayer.

The course consists of five sessions, which we will split over ten weeks.

Each session contains a video, questions for reflection and prayer.

Please find below links to the sessions.

A book to accompany the course is God on Mute by Pete Grieg

Session 1: God on Mute - Engaging the Silence

“Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Kicking off the course with an honest look at the four big questions we all ask when confronted with suffering.

Session 2: How am I going to get through this?

“My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death... Abba Father ... everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

In this session we address questions of the heart: seeking to find purpose in pain and strategies for dealing with disappointment.

Session 3: Why aren't my prayers working?

“And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?’ (which means ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’)”

In this session we wrestle with the some of the most difficult intellectual questions: why does an all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful God allow suffering?

Session 4: Where is God when heaven is silent?

“My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I nd no rest.”

In this session, we'll explore the questions we ask when we find ourselves trapped between the pain of Good Friday and the miracles of Easter Sunday.

Session 5: When will my prayers be answered?

“Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.”

In this session we'll be celebrating the hope we have in the resurrection of Jesus and anticipating the day when all our prayers will find their answer in his return.
