It is a real pleasure to welcome you to Cranham Baptist Church. Our Sunday morning services begin at 10:30am each week, and we have a Fairtrade cafe following services. The first Sunday of each month is a family friendly service for all ages. Our youth programme runs on all other Sundays, excluding the Summer and Christmas holidays, for all children from school year 1 upwards, and we run Boys' Brigade and Girls' Brigade groups on Monday evenings during term time. Our minister is Rev. Helen Harrigan.
Please refer to the calendar for dates of upcoming events and meetings including those involving deacons and partners, and feel free to have a look at our Facebook page.
On Sunday 15th June, we look forward to welcoming guest speaker Rodney Eborn from "Good News for Everyone".
On Sunday 22nd June, Sunday 29th June and Sunday 6th July, Rev. Helen Harrigan will be taking the services.
The current series is: 1 Corinthians - The Early Church.
Zoom is available for those unable to join at the church building. Please click here to access.
Hi, my name's Helen and I'm the minister here at Cranham Baptist Church. I live in Laindon with my two teenage children, two dogs and two chinchillas and I work from the church office 3 days a week. My background is in science, with a degree in Medical Physics, although it took me many years to work out 'what I wanted to do when I grew up'! I am passionate about helping people to develop in their faith journey, and welcome anyone who wants to explore this themselves. I see my role in ministry as equipping people in life, in faith and in church partnership. Outside of church I enjoy walking the dogs, Disney movies and drinking tea (especially with friends). I'm not so keen on housework!
Rev. Helen Harrigan
We are delighted to welcome various groups that serve our community, including our current regular weekly groups:
Chinese Community Group - Mondays during the day on most weeks.
1st Cranham Rainbows, 4th Cranham Brownies, and 1st Cranham Guide Unit - Wednesday evenings each week during term time.
1st Cranham Boys' Brigade and Girls' Brigade companies are an integral part of the life of Cranham Baptist Church and provide a full program of activities for young people.
For the 2024/25 session, BB and GB meet at the same time every Monday from 6:00 pm - 7:15 pm during term time only and excluding bank holidays.
We meet every week on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 to 11:00 in the Church lounge for prayer and discussions. These meetings are open to anyone in the CBC congregation.
Before CBC was built, young mothers and their children met in a house informally. Over time, these became a "fellowship" of women that shared their belief and faith in the Baptist Church, with emphasis on baptism by immersion. The structure was likened to a later Sunday service at CBC that involved singing, praying, and listening to a speaker. The subject has been kept biblical and spiritual, and the collected money given to good causes. Over the years, we have been able to support missions, charities and friends from outside the fellowship with prayers and other means. We are now open to everyone, and offer friendship with Christian love. We meet on Wednesday afternoons in the Church lounge from 2:00 to 4:00 and are open to anyone in the CBC congregation.
Connect groups meet each week to read the Bible, reflect and pray as we discover more together. They are a place of support, encouragement and fun. Currently, there is one connect group that meets on Thursday mornings at CBC from 10:00 to 12:00 and is open to anyone in the CBC congregation.
We are part of the Eastern Baptist Association - a family of Baptist Churches situated throughout Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex. As well as providing support, they share news and prayer needs across the region. The EBA vision is “Growing healthy churches in relationship for God’s mission in the East of England.” Please see www.easternbaptist.org.uk to find out more.
